Transfer your domain from your current registrar to Universe
Transferring a custom domain to Universe is a little different than using an external domain. If you're interested in using an external domain instead, click here. When you transfer a domain into Universe, we'll auto-renew it with your Universe Pro subscription, as well as connect it to your website. Although you won't be able to directly edit your DNS settings, you can reach out to support and we'll be more than happy to help!
Transferring a domain into Universe is a multi-step process, but this guide will ensure you have all of the required steps.
Unlock the Domain
Before you're able to transfer a domain in, you first need to unlock it for transfer. This will be done in the admin panel with your current registrar. If you're unsure where to find this option, try searching their help center! Before generating the EPP code and unlocking the domain, you'll need to make sure your domain has DNSSEC disabled.
Generate the EPP Code
After the domain is unlocked, it is time to generate the transfer code (aka EPP code). Per ICANN regulations, a domain cannot be released from a registrar if it was registered less than 60 days ago. If you're unsure where to find the EPP code option, try searching their help center!
Reach out to Universe Support
After you've generated the EPP code, it is time to reach out to Universe support to connect the domain to your website. You'll need to make sure the site has a valid Universe Pro subscription for the domain to be connected. Please provide the Support Team with the site you wish to attach it to, the domain, and the EPP code.
You can contact Universe Support directly in the app or at email@example.com
🌟Google Domains Transfer Notice: To transfer your domain in from Google Domains, you'll need to disable DNSSEC before generating the transfer code. You can do this by following the guide here (under Deactivate DNSSEC for your domain).
